4.191

復次，欲者，欲廣化眾生，成就佛法。精進者，雖眾生性多，佛法長遠，誓無退悔。念者，悲心徹骨，如母念子。方便者，巧知諸病，明識法藥，逗會適宜。一心者，決定化他，誓令度脫，心不異、不二。

Furthermore, desire means desiring to broadly transform sentient beings and accomplish the Buddha-dharmas. Vigor means that although sentient beings' dispositions are diverse and the Buddha-dharmas are vast and distant, one vows never to retreat or regret. Mindfulness means having compassionate mind penetrating to the bone, like a mother mindful of her child. Expedient means refers to skillfully knowing all diseases, clearly recognizing Dharma medicines, and adapting to provide what is suitable. Single-mindedness means being resolute in transforming others, vowing to deliver them, with a mind that is neither wandering nor dual.
