4.41

又知持「事戒」有三品：上品得天報，中品得人報，下品得修羅報。犯上退天，犯中退人，犯下退修羅，入三惡道。惡道又三品：輕者入餓鬼道，次者入畜生道，重者入地獄道。中品又多種，上、中、下、下下，即四天下也。上品又多種，謂三界諸天，各有品秩也。

Moreover, one knows that upholding the "phenomenal precepts" has three grades: the upper grade attains retribution in the heavens, the middle grade attains retribution as humans, and the lower grade attains retribution as asuras. Transgressing the upper falls from the heavens, transgressing the middle falls from humans, and transgressing the lower falls from asuras, entering the three evil destinies. The evil destinies also have three grades: the light enters the hungry ghost destiny, the middling enters the animal destiny, and the heavy enters the hell destiny. The middle grade also has many kinds: upper, middle, lower, and lowest of the low, which are the four continents. The upper grade also has many kinds: that is, the various heavens of the three realms, each having its rank.
