Fourth, explaining the pervasive destruction of dharmas: dharmatā is pure, neither united nor scattered, the path of speech is cut off, the realm of mental activity is extinguished, neither destroyed nor not destroyed; why then speak of 'destroying'? It is only because sentient beings have many inversions and few non-inversions; to destroy inversions and make them non-inverted, we therefore speak of 'pervasive destruction of dharmas'. When the mind is skillfully settled as above, concentration and wisdom open and develop, and there is no need to destroy further. If one is not yet in accord, one should use wisdom possessed of concentration to cleanse it thoroughly; therefore we say 'destroy'.
