The sūtra says: "Non-arising is ineffable, because there is attainment." It is now explained: this breaks inconceivable understanding as well as understanding within the realms, because it too is attained through cultivating the path; understanding outside the realms is also attained through cultivating the path. Attainment means reaching the principle, and the principle transcends mind and mouth; therefore it is ineffable. The Buddha uses six phrases to break understanding and afflictions regarding all dharmas, stating in all cases that they are ineffable, which further manifests how the gate of non-arising breaks phenomena completely.
