When a mental object faces the mind faculty and a single thought-moment arises, that is the provisionality of conditioned arising. The sequential, unbroken succession of prior thought-moments and subsequent thought-moments is the provisionality of continuity. In relativity to other absences of mind, knowing that this mind exists is the provisionality of relativity. Above, "conditioned arising" is explained in terms of external objects and internal faculties; "continuity" is explained only in terms of the internal faculty; "relativity" vertically is relative to the nonexistence of cessation, and horizontally is relative to the mindless state of the three unconditioned phenomena.
