Regarding concluding the meaning of calming and contemplation by embodying the provisional to enter emptiness: when the wheel of all views ceases, and having once attained it one does not backslide but remains eternally tranquil, this is called 'calming'; penetrating that views are without svabhāva, empty in their nature and empty in their characteristics, is called 'contemplation'. Seeing the principle of the ultimate truth is called 'non-arising'. Since the principle does not arise, the principle likewise does not perish; this being unarisen and unperishing is called 'forbearance of non-arising'. Furthermore, that delusions of view do not arise is called 'the cause not arising'; that one does not receive rebirth as retribution in the three evil destinies is called 'the effect not arising'. Cause and effect neither arising nor perishing, being unarisen and unperishing, is called 'forbearance of non-arising'. Thus the gateway of non-arising extends through calming and contemplation, and calming and contemplation accomplish the gateway of non-arising. Entering emptiness from the provisional to destroy delusions of view everywhere is concluded.
