In the ten practices of the distinctive teaching, the meaning of the benefit of entering the provisional is identical to that of the shared teaching. When ascending to the stages (bhūmis), one attains the Tathāgata's single body as immeasurable bodies, serenely responding to all. At that time, knowing illness, one exhausts the deepest source of illness; at that time, recognizing medicine, one reaches the storehouse of medicine; at that time, dispensing medicine, it is accurate like a seal without error. With the true wisdom of the paths and the supreme Dharma eye, whatever one responds and transforms to spreads everywhere spontaneously. Softening the light and mingling with the dust is the beginning of forming connections; the eight phases of attaining the Way define its end. It is called 'transformation', and it is also called 'response'. Those who see or hear it never fail to receive benefit; whatever is undertaken is the purification of Buddha lands, and the benefits of entering the provisional are entirely real and not empty. Since this is so upon ascending the stages, it is the same for the subsequent stages. Furthermore, when the initial abode of the perfect teaching enters the provisional, there are genuine benefits; and so it is up to the final mind.
