Answer: Here there are three propositions: the six perfections destroy the factors of the Way, and the factors of the Way destroy the six perfections; the six perfections cultivate the factors of the Way, and the factors of the Way cultivate the six perfections; the six perfections are identical to the factors of the Way, and the factors of the Way are identical to the six perfections. As stated above, if the factors of the Way cannot accord with reality, if one cultivates the six perfections one can destroy the veils—is this not the six perfections destroying the factors of the Way? At times the six perfections cannot reach the other shore, but if one cultivates the factors of the Way one attains awakening—this is the factors of the Way destroying the six perfections. If one cultivates the six perfections, first breaking the six veils and then advancing to cultivate the factors of the Way, it can be naturally accomplished—this is the six perfections cultivating the factors of the Way. As stated above, this is the factors of the Way cultivating the six perfections. As for the six perfections and factors of the Way being mutually identical: giving is Mahāyāna, the four smṛtyupasthānas are also Mahāyāna; giving and the factors of the Way are non-dual and without distinction, because they are ungraspable. Speaking generally of all phenomena: when not beneficial to practice, they mutually negate each other; when beneficial to practice, they mutually cultivate each other; in terms of principle, they are mutually identical. If the four noble truths and conditioned arising—existence, non-existence, and neither existence nor non-existence—are extensively applied across all dharmas, there are three rounds for each. If one grasps this meaning, one can expound freely, and so forth.
