Furthermore, as the Aṅgulimālīya-sūtra says: "What is called that eye faculty is, in the Tathāgatas, eternal; / Cultivated fully without decrease, / Seen clearly and distinctly." / "That" refers to the eye faculty of the nine dharmadhātus. "In the Tathāgatas, eternal": the nine realms each consider themselves not to be the real; the Tathāgata contemplates them as the Buddha-dharmadhātu, without duality and without distinction. "Cultivated without decrease": contemplating all eyes as the Buddha-eye; the three truths in a single thought-moment, the perfect cause is complete without deficiency. "Seen clearly and distinctly": illuminating the real is "clearly"; illuminating the expedient is "distinctly." The three knowledges within a single thought-moment, fully endowing the five eyes in perfect illumination, is called "clearly seeing the Buddha-nature." "Seeing" discusses the perfect realization; "cultivation" discusses the perfect cause.
