Regarding the confronting of objects: taking the eye to reckon a self, saying 'I can experience'; one dust-object has three [kinds of sensation], totaling eighteen sensations. When the eye sees visible form, there are the five aggregates, three realms, and two bases, following the analogy above. Furthermore, the Maitreya-paripṛcchā-sūtra says: 'In a single thought-moment of seeing form, there are three hundred billion arisings and cessations of the five aggregates; each and every five aggregates is a sentient being.' If so, when the eye confronts visible form, how could it be merely the five aggregates, three realms, and two bases? If one contemplates eye and form in this way, it is called 'deficient cultivation' and is not the Mahāyāna.
