Since one sensation regarding eye and form is like this, the other two sensations are also like this; the remaining five faculties, five dust-objects, and fifteen sensations are also like this. This is explained extensively as before. Applying the previous meaning to the six faculties, provided that afflictions are destroyed, one is not restricted to standard categories. If one attains the great cart through the ear, one mostly uses sound to perform Buddha-works; through the nose, one uses fragrance; through the tongue, one uses taste; through the body, one uses heavenly garments; through the mind, one uses quiescence. The Buddha-works of a single faculty interpenetrate all faculties, using expedient means to benefit beings; though the times may differ, they cause sentient beings to attain ultimate joy (and so forth).
