Sixth, curing by esoteric arts: the matters of esoteric arts seem distant when unknown, but near when known. Such are the method for treating the throat, the method for treating the teeth, the method of pinching the big toe to treat the liver, and so forth. Matters of esoteric arts are shallow and superficial, and their substance is mostly boastful and deceptive; they are not what a renunciant needs, fundamentally not needing to be learned, and if learned must be urgently discarded. However, if while practicing the four samādhis this bubble-like, fragile body suffers harm or growth unpredictably, borrowing them to cure illness so that the body is at peace and the Way preserved should also carry no blame. If one uses them to seek fame and fish for profit, causing a clamor among worldly people, then they are demonic illusions and demonic falsities: discard them urgently! Discard them urgently!
