If these sharp and dull ones are unpacked, they become eighty-four thousand; now they are simply bundled into four divisions. When the three poisons arise predominantly, they constitute three divisions; if they focus equally on the three objects, it is called the 'equal division'. The predominant arising of a single poison is reflection, but not in excess; when the three poisons arise equally, it is called 'excessive reflection'. Whether few or many, all are called 'distraction and agitation', and both can obstruct concentration; neutral states are 'karmic result distraction and agitation', and do not obstruct concentration. A sūtra says: 'Emerging from the concentration of cessation, one enters into the distracted mind; within the distracted mind, one returns again into the concentrations.' That distraction does not obstruct concentration is precisely this meaning. The *Satyasiddhi* masters say: 'Distraction includes ignorance, and delusion can obstruct concentration.' If so, when distraction includes anger and desire, why would it not obstruct concentration? Now the explanation has a different intention, as explained above under discarding the hindrances.
