9.144

若不悟者，是不解調停道品。所以者何？一念禪心具十界五陰，諸陰即空，破界內四倒成四枯；諸陰即假，破界外四倒成四榮；諸陰即中，非內非外，非榮非枯，於其中間而般涅槃。如此四念開道品門，道品開三解脫門，入涅槃，道定具足。

If one still does not awaken, it is because one does not understand how to adjust and harmonize the bodhipakṣa dharmas. Why is this? A single thought-moment of the dhyāna mind possesses the five aggregates of the ten realms. When the aggregates are identical with emptiness, they break the four perversions within the realms to form the four witherings; when the aggregates are identical with the provisional, they break the four perversions outside the realms to form the four bloomings; when the aggregates are identical with the middle, they are neither internal nor external, neither blooming nor withering, and in their midst one attains parinirvāṇa. In this way, the four smṛtyupasthānas open the door to the bodhipakṣa dharmas, and the bodhipakṣa dharmas open the three doors of liberation, entering nirvāṇa with the path and samādhi fully complete.
