If one's practice goes against the middle way, there is retribution of the two extremes; if one's practice accords with the middle way, there is supreme and wonderful retribution. Even if one has not yet transcended fragmented [samsāric] birth and death, the flower retribution obtained is already different from that of the seven expedient means, to say nothing of the true retribution!
