Calming and contemplation of absolute transcendence cannot be spoken of, yet if there are the conditions of the four siddhāntas, it can also be spoken of: if there are mundane conditions, it is spoken of by reconciling differences; if there are conditions for the benefit of persons, it is spoken of by connecting to the three virtues; if there are therapeutic conditions, it is spoken of relative [to defilements]; if there are supreme truth conditions, it is spoken of through absolute transcendence—spoken of as calming and contemplation. These words are neither inside, nor outside, nor in between the two, nor do they eternally exist of themselves. These words neither abide nor do they not abide. These words are not within the horizontal four propositions or the vertical four propositions, hence it is said that these words do not abide; nor are they in the absence of horizontal and vertical, hence it is said that they also do not not abide. Because these words are unobtainable, it is called "calming and contemplation of absolute transcendence", also called "inconceivable calming and contemplation", also called "calming and contemplation of non-arising", and also called "calming and contemplation of the one great matter".
