The contemplation of the mind comprises ten Dharma gates: 1. Contemplating the inconceivable realm; 2. Arousing the mind of compassion; 3. Skillfully applying calming and contemplation; 4. Shattering dharmas ubiquitously; 5. Discerning the patent and obstructed; 6. Cultivating the aids to awakening; 7. Remedying and assisting opening; 8. Knowing the sequential stages; 9. Being able to endure peacefully; 10. Freedom from Dharma-attachment. Having personally realized the wonderful realm, one immediately vows to have compassion for others; next, one performs practices to fulfill the vows; once vows and practices are skillful, one shatters everywhere without exception; amid ubiquitous shattering, one precisely discerns the patent and obstructed, causing the aids to awakening to advance; further, one uses auxiliary practices to open the path; of the stages along the path, one recognizes both one's own and others'; one peacefully endures internal and external glory and disgrace; and one does not cling to Dharma-attachment to the middle way. Therefore, one quickly enters the stage of a bodhisattva.
