Now, if one takes what is convenient for explaining the meaning: explaining the meaning in terms of the ten perfections, by means of the sixth, prajñā, the wisdom that enters emptiness severs delusions completely and equals the arhat; the seventh, skillful means prajñā, emerges into the provisional for transformative function—this designation is convenient. If one takes the seventh bhūmi as equaling the arhat, matching the various bhūmis against fruitions and approaches, the seventh bhūmi directly equals the fourth fruition. These are all tentative correspondences; the sūtras and treatises are not uniform, and one must deliberate further, rather than rigidly clinging [to one view], and so forth.
