In the perfect practice, the word "wholly" means that if it were not wholly directed, it would belong to the other two. It is not that the other two do not single-mindedly and exclusively seek it, but because their marks of practice differ, they belong to the other two. "Entering straight into the middle way" does not mean the exclusive middle; it simply means not being pulled by one-sided emptiness or one-sided provisionality, and for this reason it is called "neither active nor tranquil." It is named after what is superior, hence it is said to "enter straight." People failing to see this immediately take it to mean contemplating the exclusive middle first. There is no such principle at all.
