聞法中二：初正聞法、次以偈結。初文言「或從佛」等者，明聞法所從。從佛唯佛在，知識通現未，經卷唯滅後。「聞生滅」去，四教之法一一皆生四解不同。此所聞法不出四諦。

Next, within "hearing the Dharma" there are two parts: first, properly hearing the Dharma; next, concluding with verses. The initial text stating "either from a Buddha", and so forth, clarifies from whom the Dharma is heard. "From a Buddha" applies only while a Buddha is in the world; good spiritual friends apply to both present and future; sutra scrolls apply only after [the Buddha's] parinirvāṇa. From "hearing arising and perishing" onward, with respect to the teachings of the four teachings, each produces four different understandings. The Dharma heard here does not go beyond the four noble truths.
