Next, in [the section on] universal refutation of dharmas, from the beginning up to "this illness," it deduces that illness arises from the mind. From "now contemplating" onward, it directly clarifies the application of contemplation. Therein, from the beginning up to "because it is like an illusion," it refutes arising from causes [and conditions]. "Not grasping the arising and ceasing of the ill mind" refutes continuity. The remaining [refutations of] mutual relativity, the provisional, the middle, and so forth, are all abbreviated in the text. In the first [refutation of] arising from causes, as for "neither the earth element nor separate from the earth element" and so forth: since illness is created by the mind, it is not the earth element; since illness truly afflicts the body, it is not separate from the earth element. Taking earth as the primary [example], the rest are also like this. The four great elements have no illness, and therefore it does not unite with the body. Since the mind is already like an illusion, an illusion fundamentally has no illness. Pass and blockage are as in the text.
