復次、用心坐中治病，仍須更兼具十法，無不有益。十法者：一、信，二、用，三、勤，四、常住緣中，五、別病因法，六、方便，七、久行，八、知取捨，九、持護，十、識遮障。云何為信？謂信此法必能治病。何為用？謂隨時常用。何為勤？謂用之專精不息，取得差為度。何為住緣中？謂細心念念依法，而不異緣。何為別病因起？如上所說。何為方便？謂吐納運心緣想，善巧成就，不失其宜。何為久行？謂若用之未即有益，不計日月，常習不廢。何為知取捨？謂知益即勤，有損即捨之，微細轉心調治。何為持護？謂善識異緣觸犯。何為遮障？謂得益不向外說，未損不生疑謗。若依此十法，所治必定有効不虛者也。

Furthermore, in applying the mind to cure illness during sitting, one must still additionally possess ten dharmas, none of which will fail to be beneficial. The ten dharmas are: first, faith; second, application; third, diligence; fourth, constantly abiding in the conditions; fifth, discerning the cause and method of the illness; sixth, expedient means; seventh, enduring practice; eighth, knowing what to adopt and reject; ninth, guarding and protecting; tenth, recognizing obstructions. What is meant by faith? It means having faith that this method will definitely cure the illness. What is meant by application? It means constantly applying it according to the occasion. What is meant by diligence? It means applying it with focused devotion without ceasing, taking recovery as the measure. What is meant by abiding in the conditions? It means with a subtle mind, thought after thought adhering to the method without straying to other conditions. What is meant by discerning the arising of the cause of the illness? It is as explained above. What is meant by expedient means? It means exhaling and inhaling, directing the mind to attend to the imagination, skillfully accomplishing it without losing what is appropriate. What is meant by enduring practice? It means that if using it does not immediately bring benefit, one does not count the days and months, but constantly practices without abandoning it. What is meant by knowing what to adopt and reject? It means knowing what is beneficial and diligently pursuing it, and when there is harm, abandoning it, subtly shifting the mind to regulate and cure. What is meant by guarding and protecting? It means skillfully recognizing alien conditions and infractions. What is meant by recognizing obstructions? It means that upon gaining benefit one does not speak of it externally, and when it is not yet alleviated one does not give rise to doubt or slander. If one relies on these ten dharmas, the cure will definitely be effective and not in vain.
