"A person of shame who has entered the Path,
Holding the bowl to bring blessing to sentient beings—
How could you indulge the desires of dust
And sink into the five senses?
Having already relinquished the pleasures of the five desires,
Discarding them without looking back,
How could you wish to reclaim them?
Like a fool eating his own vomit.
All desires are painful when sought,
Bring much fear when obtained,
And harbor burning torment when lost;
In none of them is there any pleasure.
Such are the perils of all desires;
By what means can one relinquish them?
Attaining the bliss of deep dhyāna-concentration,
One will not be deceived by them."
