Question: Why say that the Lotus Samādhi and other such dharmas are all called neither defiled nor undefiled? As the Lotus Sūtra says: "This Bodhisattva Guṇagarbha has already thoroughly penetrated the undefiled real-mark mind; next he will become a buddha named Pure Body." Furthermore, among the four fearlessnesses, the second fearlessness is called the fearlessness of undefiledness. Dharmas such as these are mostly spoken of as undefiled throughout the sūtras and treatises; why now say they are all neither defiled nor undefiled dharmas?
