1.38

禪為利智藏，功德之福田；
禪如清淨水，能洗諸欲塵；
禪為金剛鎧，能遮煩惱箭。
雖未得無為，涅槃分已得。
得金剛三昧，摧碎結使山。
得六神通力，能度無量人。
囂塵蔽天日，大雨能淹之。
覺觀風動之，禪定能滅之。

"Dhyāna is a treasury of sharp wisdom, / a field of merit for virtues; / dhyāna is like pure water, / able to wash away the dust of desires; / dhyāna is vajra armor, / able to ward off the arrows of affliction. / Although one has not yet attained the unconditioned, / a share of nirvāṇa has already been obtained. / Attaining the vajra-samādhi, / one crushes the mountain of fetters. / Attaining the power of the six supernormal knowledges, / one can deliver immeasurable people. / When clamorous dust obscures the sun in the sky, / heavy rain can quench it; / when the wind of vitarka and vicāra stirs it, / dhyāna-concentration can extinguish it."
