10.103

當知此三三昧更無別體，但是總諸禪以為三分。大聖欲令眾生雖聞廣說諸禪，而不失根本故，總以三法收攝諸禪，罄無不盡。譬如數法，若至百萬，總為一億，此亦如是。

One should know that these three samādhis have no separate essence; they merely synthesize all dhyānas into three divisions. Because the Great Sage wished to ensure that sentient beings, although hearing the extensive explanation of the various dhyānas, would not lose the fundamental, he comprehensively subsumed all dhyānas under these three phenomena, exhausting them without remainder. For example, in calculation, when one reaches one million, they are synthesized as a myriad; this is also like that.
