答曰：是義應作四句分別：一者自有九次第定非解脫，自有是解脫非次第定，自有次第定亦是解脫，自有非次第定非解脫，而是八背捨。

Answer: This meaning should be distinguished through a fourfold proposition: first, there are cases possessing the nine sequential absorptions that are not liberations; second, there are liberations that are not sequential absorptions; third, there are sequential absorptions that are also liberations; fourth, there are those that are neither sequential absorptions nor liberations, but are the eight liberations.
