次釋三三昧。三三昧者：一、有覺有觀三昧；二、無覺有觀三昧；三、無覺無觀三昧。所以次九定後明三三昧者，此二種禪，名雖有異，而法相孱同。所以者何？九定既通鍊諸禪，而自無別體。三三昧亦如是，此義在下自當可見。釋三三昧，即為三意：一、釋名；二、辯相；三、名出生三昧。

Next, explaining the three samādhis: The three samādhis are: 1. samādhi with vitarka and vicāra; 2. samādhi without vitarka but with vicāra; 3. samādhi without vitarka and without vicāra. Why are the three samādhis explained next after the nine absorptions? Although these two kinds of dhyāna differ in name, their dharmic characteristics are identical. Why is this?
