Third, when sitting dhyāna is about to end and one wishes to emerge from concentration, one should first direct the mind to other objects, open the mouth and release the breath, visualizing the breath dispersing at will from the hundred vessels. Then, slightly move the body; next, move the shoulders, head, and neck; next, move both feet, making them all supple. Afterward, rub all the pores with the hands; next, rub the hands together to make them warm, cover both eyes with them, withdraw the hands, and only then open the eyes. Wait until the body's heat and sweat have slightly subsided before entering or exiting [activities] at will. If one does not do so, even if one attained a settled mind, since emergence was abrupt and rushed, the subtle states will not yet have dispersed and will remain in the body, causing headaches, stiffness in the joints of the bones as if suffering from wind-exhaustion, and restlessness in subsequent sittings, so that the mind does not wish to sit. One must always take care; this is the method of regulating body, breath, and mind upon emerging from concentration. Because it proceeds from the subtle to the coarse, this is called skillful entry, emergence, and abiding. As the verse says:
