2.46

答曰：實爾，邪正難別，不可定取。若相現時，良師乃識，事須面決，非可文載，是故行者初懺悔時，必須近善知識，別邪正之人。復次，夫見相者，忽然而覩，尚邪正難知，若逐文作心求之，多著魔也。

Answer: Indeed so; the heterodox and the correct are difficult to distinguish and cannot be taken definitively. When a sign appears, only an excellent master recognizes it; the matter must be decided face to face and cannot be recorded in writing. Therefore, when practitioners first repent, they must stay close to a good friend, a person who distinguishes the heterodox from the correct. Furthermore, when it comes to seeing signs, even when they are seen suddenly, it is still difficult to know whether they are heterodox or correct; if one follows the texts and sets one's mind to seek them, one will mostly fall into demonic influence.
