2.48

答曰：言觀相者，但用心行道，功成相現，取此判之，便知罪滅、不滅。非謂行道之時，心存相事，而生取著。若如此用心，必定多來魔事。

Answer: What is meant by 'observing signs' is merely that one applies one's mind to practice the path, and when success is achieved, signs appear; taking these to make a judgment, one then knows whether guilt is eliminated or not eliminated. It does not mean that while practicing the path, one keeps signs in mind and gives rise to grasping. If one applies the mind in this way, demonic hindrances will definitely arise in abundance.
