今先料揀第一、事修發禪不定，即有四種不同：一、自有行人安心係緣、制心等事止，還發事中禪定，謂根本四禪、四無量心、四無色定及九想、背捨、勝處、一切處等中諸禪三昧。

Now, first sorting out the first, the indeterminate arising of dhyāna from phenomenal cultivation, there are four different kinds: First, there are practitioners who settle their minds in phenomenal cessations such as fixing on conditions and reining in the mind, and in turn give rise to dhyāna absorptions within phenomena, namely the various dhyānas and samādhis within the root four dhyānas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, as well as the nine notions, liberations, stations of mastery, totality spheres, and so forth.
