分別禪波羅蜜前方便第六之二（從此有兩卷，並明內方便。今之一卷正釋因止發內外善根，是中明事理諸禪三昧善根發，通約初禪初境界罔像而辨，止表行人習因根性不同，故於初證之時發禪有異。若論初禪已後，發事理諸禪三昧深妙境界，並在第七大段修證中廣明此文，悉未流通也。）

Differentiating the Prior Expedient Means of Dhyāna-pāramitā, Part Two of Chapter Six (From this point there are two fascicles, both explaining the internal expedient means. The present single fascicle directly explains the arising of internal and external wholesome roots due to cessation. In this, the arising of wholesome roots of various dhyānas and samādhis, in terms of phenomena and principle, is explained broadly in reference to the indistinct initial state of the first dhyāna, merely showing that practitioners differ in habitual causes and roots of capacity, so that at the time of initial realization, the dhyānas that arise are different. If one speaks of what follows after the first dhyāna—the arising of the profound and subtle states of various dhyānas and samādhis in terms of phenomena and principle—all this is explained extensively in the seventh major section, Cultivation and Realization; that text has not yet circulated.)
