答曰：不然。今依佛教，如經說：「阿那波那是三世諸佛入道初門。」是故釋迦初詣道樹，欲習佛法，內思安般，一數，二隨，乃至還、淨，具如《瑞應經》所說。

He answers: It is not so. Relying now on the Buddha's teaching, as a sūtra states: "Ānāpāna is the initial gate for entering the path for all Buddhas of the three times." For this reason, when Śākyamuni first went to the tree of awakening and wished to cultivate the Buddhadharma, he meditated internally on ānāpāna—first counting, second following, up to returning and purifying—fully as spoken in the Ruiying jing.
