答曰：有異。欲界雖有治病除蓋及非魔觸，而非初禪觸者，此猶是欲界中四大色法，不能發定，無諸功德支林善法，故不名初禪。此則略出欲界善、不善觸相，但行人初坐，或有證此一兩，或都不證。然既有此法，故略出之耳。

Answer: There is a difference. Although in the desire realm there are sensations that cure illness, eliminate the hindrances, and are not of Māra, they are not sensations of the first dhyāna because they are still physical dharmas of the four great elements within the desire realm. They cannot give rise to concentration and lack the wholesome dharmas of the factors and groves of meritorious qualities; hence they are not named the first dhyāna. This, then, briefly sets forth the characteristics of wholesome and unwholesome sensations in the desire realm. When practitioners first sit, some may realize one or two of these, while others may realize none at all. Yet because such dharmas exist, they are briefly set forth.
