As for reviling and praising: when a practitioner wishes to seek the absorption of the station of empty space, they should deeply contemplate the faults and transgressions of form dharmas. Namely, if there is a bodily form, internally there will be hunger, thirst, disease, defecation, urination, impurities, coarseness, wretchedness, deception, falsehood, and all other sufferings; externally one experiences cold, heat, swords, staves, cangues, locks, punishments, and all other sufferings. Having received this body as retribution through the combination of causes and conditions from past lives, it is the root of all manifold sufferings and cannot be preserved or attached to. Furthermore, all form dharmas bind the mind so that it cannot attain sovereignty; this is the prison of the mind, causing the mind to suffer distress, with nothing to be craved or delighted in. This is a brief explanation of the marks of reviling the faults of form. Praising means praising formless empty space as being without these faults, expansive, peaceful, and joyful, this station being tranquil and without manifold afflictions and troubles. Now, clarifying reviling and praising is the mark of cultivating the six practices, which can be understood by analogy to the preceding.
