問曰：如《大集經》亦有別釋此禪名義，故經言：「所言禪者，疾故名禪。疾大疾，住大住，靜寂靜，觀滅遠離，是名為禪。」今何故別立名耶？

Question: The Mahāsaṃnipāta Sūtra also has a distinct explanation of the name and meaning of this dhyāna, as the sūtra states: “What is called dhyāna is named dhyāna because of its swiftness: swift, great swiftness; abiding, great abiding; quiet, great quiescence; contemplating cessation and detachment—this is named dhyāna.” Why then is a distinct name established now?
