Second, regarding the manifestation of internal and external covetous desire afflictions: If a practitioner, when cultivating concentration, has the desire-mind activated, they either condition external physical marks, forms, gestures, and deportment of men and women, giving rise to covetous attachment; or again, they condition their own body's form and appearance, stroking the head and wiping the neck, with defiled attachment in thought after thought, giving rise to various covetous cravings, thereby obstructing various dhyāna-concentrations. This is the mark of the manifestation of internal and external covetous desire afflictions.
