Second, explaining the manifestation of compassion absorption. When the practitioner's merit, wisdom, and good roots are pure and they practice this contemplation, samādhi immediately manifests, and within absorption they perceive the characteristic of the dear person experiencing suffering, distinctly clear, their mind moved with pity, wishing to rescue and protect them. Having seen the dear person experiencing suffering and generated a mind of pity, next they see neutral persons and hostile persons likewise, extending to the characteristics of sentient beings in the ten directions and five destinies experiencing suffering. As the practitioner within the absorbed mind sees external persons experiencing suffering, their internal mind feels pity; arising from the compassion absorption, their mind becomes increasingly profound and solid, the absorbed mind concordant with the external, tranquil and unmoving; this is called a mind accompanied by compassion.
