"The six sense faculties are fully complete,
The mirror of wisdom is also bright and sharp;
Yet if one does not seek the path's Dharma,
One vainly receives body and wisdom.
Beasts also have intelligence,
Indulging themselves in sensual pleasures;
Yet they do not know expedient means
To cultivate good deeds for the path.
Having already obtained a human body,
Yet merely indulging oneself,
Not knowing to cultivate good practice—
How is one different from them?
Sentient beings in the three wretched realms
Cannot cultivate the work of the path;
Having already obtained this human body,
One must strive to benefit oneself."
