Regarding the impermanence of sentient beings: the practitioner contemplates that from the stage of the kalala onward, form and mind arise, cease, and undergo transformation in oneself and all sentient beings, up to old age and death, without stopping even for a moment. Why is this? Because all conditioned things belong to the transformation of the three characteristics of arising, abiding, and ceasing, one therefore knows they are impermanent. That which is about to arise changes into arising; that which is about to abide changes into abiding; that which is about to cease changes into ceasing; changing and impermanent like this, swiftly flowing moment by moment without a moment's rest, one therefore knows that all sentient beings are entirely impermanent.
