Answer: It is in order to counteract and shatter the inversion of clinging to permanence; herein one should not seek reality. If one's mind conceives impermanence to be real, one then falls into the annihilation view. Furthermore, the notion of impermanence with remainder is as explained above under the sublime practices and penetrating clarity; that without remainder will be explained extensively below under the practice of wisdom.
