If the mind is suited to counting, one should settle the mind with the method of counting; and so on up to purification as well. One uses whatever is suitable without selecting by sequential order. When settling the mind in this way, if one feels the body at ease and the breath regulated, the mind quiet and bright, stable and firm from beginning to end, one should use this method exclusively, and it will surely bring deep benefit. This is a brief explanation of how a beginner skillfully settles the mind in the six wondrous gates, which is knowing the general idea of applying the mind according to suitability.
