Tenth, the anuśaya of grasping at precepts and vows (śīlavrataparāmarśa). In what is not a precept, mistakenly taking it to be a precept and adopting it to make progress is called grasping at precepts and vows. If one adopts the precepts of chickens, dogs, or cattle, or even the precepts observed by the ninety-five kinds of non-Buddhists, taking them to be true precepts, these are all called grasping at precepts and vows. If a person, though upholding the Buddha's precepts, views there to be marks of the precepts, this is also grasping at precepts and vows. Abandoned through seeing the truths, across the two categories of the three realms there are six kinds of grasping at precepts and vows.
