一、不殺生。即是止善，止前殺生之惡行；善者，當行放生之善也。

First, not killing living beings. This is the wholesome action of cessation, ceasing the evil conduct of killing living beings mentioned above; as for the wholesome action of performance, one should practice the good of releasing living beings.
