次此應明在家優婆塞、優婆夷，一日一夜八戒，出家沙彌、沙彌尼十戒，式叉摩那尼六法戒，比丘、比丘尼十種得戒，五篇七聚相，乃至菩薩十重、四十八輕戒，及三千威儀、八萬律儀。是中皆應次第略出科目，辨大聖從麁至細制戒之意，事轉繁多具列（云云）。今欲且逐要出諸禪定、智慧法門科目次第，此諸戒中事數，至下第六卷，別更隨要者出之。

Following this, one should clarify: for lay upāsakas and upāsikās, the eight precepts for one day and one night; for novice monks (śrāmaṇera) and novice nuns (śrāmaṇerikā) who have gone forth, the ten precepts; for probationer nuns (śikṣamāṇā), the six dharmas of precepts; for fully ordained monks (bhikṣu) and nuns (bhikṣuṇī), the ten manners of receiving the precepts, the aspects of the five classes and seven gatherings; and even the ten major and forty-eight minor precepts of the bodhisattva, as well as the three thousand deportments and eighty thousand rules of conduct. In all of these, one ought to set forth the headings briefly in sequential order, discerning the Great Sage's intent in formulating precepts from coarse to fine; but as the matters become increasingly voluminous, they are detailed elsewhere. Now, wishing for the present to follow what is essential and set forth the sequence of headings for the gateways of the dharmas of meditative concentrations and wisdom, the counts of matters among these various precepts will be brought out separately according to what is essential later in the sixth fascicle.
