一、空處定。若滅三種色、緣空而入定者。名空處定。行者厭患色如牢獄，心欲出離，即修觀智，破於色故，過一切色相。滅有對相，不念種種相，入無邊虛空處。心與虛空之法相應，是為虛空處定。

First is the attainment of the base of space. If one extinguishes the three kinds of form and takes space as the object to enter meditative absorption, it is called the attainment of the base of space. The practitioner, reviling form as like a prison, wishes in their mind to escape it, and immediately cultivates contemplative discernment to shatter form; surpassing all marks of form, extinguishing marks of resistance, and not reflecting upon diverse marks, they enter the base of boundless space. When the mind is associated with the phenomenon of empty space, this is the attainment of the base of boundless space.
