十二、老死。「生因緣故，則有老死種種諸苦，是名五陰、十二入、十八界十二因緣之大樹也。」此並是略出經文辯。從初受報來，約二世明十二因緣相。孱然無一句私語，讀者善尋，自知與前來約三世明十二因緣有異也。

Twelfth, aging and death: 'Due to the condition of birth, there are aging and death and various sufferings; this is called the great tree of the twelve links of dependent origination of the five skandhas, twelve āyatanas, and eighteen dhātus.' These are all explanations briefly extracted from the text of the sūtra. From the initial receiving of retribution onward, the characteristics of the twelve links of dependent origination are clarified according to two time periods. Clearly there is not a single personal word added. If the reader investigates carefully, they will naturally understand how this differs from the earlier explanation of the twelve links of dependent origination according to the three time periods.
