Next, explaining the six points of reverent harmony after the four means of embrace: once the bodhisattva is able to skillfully use the four dharmas of accommodating inclinations to embrace and gather sentient beings, in order to bring them to maturation, one must dwell with them for a long time. If one does not harmonize with, love, and respect them, then the two sides will not be in accord and will not be able to fully accomplish prajñā; this would be a demonic affair. If one skillfully uses the six harmonies, one will invisibly harmonize with all, inevitably securing a good beginning and a fine end, and will be able to establish all upon the great path of bodhi; therefore they are elucidated next after the four means of embrace. These six are collectively called 'reverent harmony' because outwardly identifying with others' goodness is called 'harmony', and inwardly maintaining humility is called 'reverence'. When a bodhisattva engages in affairs together with beings, outwardly they join with beings in practicing goodness, and inwardly they are always humble; hence they are named 'reverent harmony'.
