First, the affliction of views. Contemplating principles with an errant mind is called 'view.' If one's feelings are confused about the principles of the designated and the real, generating inverted thoughts and errant pursuit, grasping obstinately at whatever one-sided principle one sees as being real, this is collectively called 'view.' The affliction of views refers to the five sharp anuśayas, the eighty-eight anuśayas severed by seeing the truths, the sixty-two views, and so forth.
